USA Oh God No... White House to Test Federal-Local Sharing of Drone Regulation

I fear you are correct....
IMHO, the FAA is chosing to abdicate their regulatory responsibility of the National Airspace in an attempt to divest themselves of the pesky "drone problem." After all the posturing about the "patchwork of local rules" threatening their regulatory oversight, it looks like they want to wash their hands of UAVs. Hope I am wrong.

I agree. I live in east Tennessee and our neighbors to the East in North Carolina have their own state level 'permit to fly'..and their fee. I don't think it's a totally evil thing but I just don't like anyone but the legal controllers of our national airspace telling me what I need to do and pay.
