P4P or an X5 for my Inspire 1 v.2

I'm torn. I can't decide whether it makes more sense to buy an X5 with an 15mm 1.7 for my Inspire or just buy a new P4P.

I want a newer and larger sensor.

It's practically the same money. I'd be interested in hearing what you would do and what the advantages to each might be. Heck, I can probably save money buying the X5 Micro 4/3".

FWIW, I have an Osmo so I could use the X5 for that too. Another reason for just buying a nice used X5 and lens.

Thoughts?

I'd say it really depends on your primary application that you are using the equipment for. I do think X5 could be the better route for you given your sunk cost in the Osmo that you can use the X5 on for some additional value.

Thanks! That's kinda what I'm thinking too at this point.

Strictly hobby and mostly around my own farms to be honest. I take them down to the NC sounds and rivers occasionally but it's all just for personal use, entertainment and enjoyment. RC flying (and full scale for that matter) has been a hobby for me for over 25 years.

I guess I should have mentioned I have a P4 and a P3P too, as well as numerous 350QX's and the like. Probably a dozen quads and hexes in total, but the Inspire is by far and away my favorite. I'm about burned out on the whole "Phantom" thing.

What I really want is a handle like a Karma. A GoPro 6 with a 1" sensor, and a mount on my Inspire 1 v.2 that will feed and control via the Go app. Would ya get that for me? :D

Seriously, I guess all things considered and all joking aside, the X5 really wouldn't be far from that pipe dream given what I already have.

I'd say the x5. Can put out the same if not clearer image because of the pixel size being smaller than the p4p. Option to be able to use different lenses is a huge bonus. Once you use a lens with zoom capabilities you probably will not use many other lenses by the sounds of what you're doing with it. You already have the equipment to fly in tighter area s so not allot of need for another phantom based bird besides a better camera.

Out of those options I'd go for X5.

The ability to control the camera position without getting the legs in the way on the Inspire is something you'd probably miss, especially if you're just about done with the Phantom thing :D

The x5 on the osmo is fun and obviously gives great results, and it'll mean your aerial and ground footage is matched when you come to edit it later.

Just make sure you get the right accessories for the i1 and for the Osmo - you'll need to make sure you've got the adaptor plate and leg risers for the Inspire, and the x5 adaptor plate for the osmo.

v.2 already has the adapter plate, right? I thought that was one of the major "upgrades" in v.2. What are these leg risers you speak of? :D Never heard of them that I can remember.

I already have the adapter for the Osmo. I bought that months ago and have just never pulled the trigger to spend the money on the X5.

Buy Inspire 1 V2.0 - Landing Gear Riser Kit

Thank you! Does v.2 already have the plate I need or do I need something additional?
The V2 should have the X5 mount already. It's a better design and will improve X3 footage as well since it's a compression mount rather than a suspension mount which the original X3 gimbal was/is.
