WELL???? I make a long list of things that were wrong with my Inspire, after I crashed it....and sent that information on the DJI WORK ORDER per their instructions.

ONE of the things on that list of problems was that the ribbon cable that connects the aircraft to the vibration place was cracked where it attaches to the vibration plate. But when I got my estimate of repairs in...it says NOTHING about this ribbon cable being repaired???

ANOTHER thing that I listed was the camera and gimbal. There is minor restriction as the camera and gimbal move around, and when I try and put it into the plastic box for protection it no longer fits. OBVIOUSLY it is slightly bent. It still works and appears to be working perfectly...but again, nothing is said about this in the repair estimate!!!????

I paid the repair estimate and I replied with these 2 questions.....does anyone have any experience with DJI not doing the repair properly?

Could they actually MISS repairing the camera?? OR....reason that it's bent but it's not broken? OR that the ribbon cable is cracked but it's good enough???? DON'T WE "DRONE" operators get enough CRAP in the Media??? What if this thing goes down because that wire come lose? OR I lose control as a result? Wouldn't that look bad on DJI'S part??? OR will the "OPERATOR" just get all the NEGATIVITY????

I sent it in because of all the stuff they say on their web site about "MAKING SURE IT REPAIRED PROPERLY" yada yada yada????

Anyone with experience in this area?

Kirk

Sorry to hear of your experience Kirk....:/ How long did your repair take from when you sent it in to you got it back?

I crashed on September 18. I had it boxed up and sent per DJI INSTRUCTIONS on September 21. DJI Got my repair (according to FedX tracking) on Friday AM September 25. I did not get a BILL from them until September 30. I paid it instantly. I did not get any acknowledgment of my payment until Oct 7, when the status changed to "In Repair".

I have not heard anything from them since.

I have sent message after message on the TICKET system asking about the repair. My question seems simple. I made a long list of things that were broken as a result of the crash. Everything was address by their assessment and price for repair except 2 CRITICAL things. 1. the ribbon cables that connect the vibration plate to the aircraft were broken, they said nothing about fixing this. and 2. The camera and gimbal did work after the crash but there was some restriction to the camera movement and the gimbal is obviously bent. They said nothing about this and I hope it's addressed....how horrible would it be to get this thing back from repair and the ribbon cable and camera/gimbal is still broken????

So you don't have it back yet. So why do you sound like you got it back and it wasn't repaired correctly?

No you assume that. What happens when you send off a unit to dji for repair, they make an assessment and then send you a long detailed list of what they are going to do and the price.

In that assessment it said nothing about the ribbon cable and the camera/gimbal. Only the other things I listed as problems.

My question above was looking for someone else who has had experience with dji repairs. Do they get it right? Do they do a good "thorough" job? What is their reputation?

In their paper work, they say: Do Not Call! It will slow down the repair process. But if they have a poor reputation when it comes to repairs, I would rather call then have to send it back. Or worst have it crash again because of it not being fixed properly.

That was my purpose in making the original thread.

Hope that explains it???

When I sent my I1 in for repair they did the same thing. They did not list all the (known) required repairs on the estimate. my camera was broken but not on their list of repairs. Yet ALL repairs were done when I received it back and I am completely satisfied with the repairs done. Their communications suck!!!

I just wanted to report back, I got my repair in today!

I shipped it off on Sept. 18 and I got it back in my hands on Oct. 20.....I call that 1 month turn around. When you consider that it takes 1 week up and 1 week back for it to get from California to me.....and visa versa.....1 month is really NOT THAT BAD!!!!

My hats off to DJI!!! ATTA BOY!!!!

The cost was, in my opinion reasonable, less than $400 and they paid the shipping back to me.

So...for less than $500 total, I am back in business.

And, I would like to report that EVERYTHING, even the 2 issues that I mentioned above were taken care of. I'm not 100% sure, but it appears the repaired my AC and just replaced my Camera and Gimbal.

Pretty sweet!!!!

Thank you DJI!!!! (you see, everyone doesn't just complain about yawl) :D :D

Thanks for giving us an update. I'm glad you're up and running again.

Sounds like Dji has stepped up their game and improving turnaround times! Yayyyy!

I think DJI monitors this board....I know if I was DJI I would have a person dedicated to this board. My only suggestion to DJI would be to understand how people feel about these things. Sure, they are tools, and for many tools are just things to get the job done. But for some (like me) they are more than just a tool.....I know I feel a bit of a connection to my cameras.......I always have been this was from the very first Pro camera I got when I was 15 years old. I saved for 6 months...doing a paper route to get the money to buy that camera. I literally slept with it when I got it.

:D

NOW.....I'm not "ADMITTING" to sleeping with my Inspire 1...but let me just say,,,,,for the last month I have not been sleeping that good!!! I'm glad my Inspire 1 is back home!!!!

:D

I banged my I1 up also after 112 flawless flights. Real bummer. Thought I would never crash. Not sure what I was thinking. Anyway, sent it back to DJI. They quoted 8 weeks and I got it back in 4. They quoted $430 and listed what was damaged. I followed their instructions on how to return, package etc. to the letter. Communicated only on the email. When I got it back I swear it was a new airplane. It also seems like it has longer legs. I might be mistaken but it sure looked like it. And my old camera had a scratch on the side and this was definitely a new camera. It also had the 1345 props on it and mine has the older prop locks. I did not ship the iPad holder back with it and they sent a new one of those back. And the remote was wrapped like it was new. Over all I was very happy with the experience. Hope this helps
