REVIEW: Smart Power Charger DJI Inspire 1 SPC4500

Just received mine from Droneland.nl and completed the charge of 4 batteries in under 90 minutes. I could not have done that even with my two 180W DJI chargers. I am (and my wife is) delighted with the small footprint, tidy cables and fire-and-forget operation. Congratulations to Richie for serving the Inspire community with this excellent product. It may not suit everyone but I am a happy bunny!

Little question, to those who are lucky enough to have a SPC4500 on their desks.
Does the unit come with the two special cables required to charge the remotes ?
It seems you need a special male-male charging cable to charge the remotes, so I would like to know what's included in the box.
It would have been great to have an in depth vodeo review of this product, really one of the smartest Inspire accesories made so far, followed their progress for the last couple months but you cannot find not even one single video review online.
If some of you would have the time to do it, would be great, either way I already contacted Droneland.nl, hopefully I will get mine until next week.

Yes it comes with Two Cables to charge the remote.
Its a great unit !!

Thanks, I just realized it was kindly mentioned in the first post also, my mistake. Indeed, the mother of all chargers and the amonunt of time saved for charging everthing needed to have Inspire back in the air fast and safe worth every penny.

I totally agree, I cant wait for the soon to be firmware upgrade, there will be a GUI interface so you will be able to tweak your SPC4500

Hi Mani

The SPC4500 comes with a main power cable and 2 male-to-male cables for charging the RCs. The Droneland.nl sourced item has a round-2 pin European 240V mains cable. For UK buyers you will need to buy a UK 13A 240V 3-pin Euro cable costing under £5.

My only criticism of Droneland.nl (apart from first sending me a Phantom unit) is the cost of shipping by DHL (€45) and the exorbitant charge for credit/debit card or PayPal purchases (€22). As the sole Europe agent, UK customers are particularly disadvantaged.

The photo review above covers everything any video would cover. It is a very neat and smart product that takes far less room than the mess of having one or more DJI chargers.

That's a terrible lie, anyone can type words on a forum.
What percentage was your batteries when you put them on the charger?
DJI 180w charger charges TWICE AS FAST for HALF the money.
What a joke having "schills" infiltrate the thread.
These guys lied on the DJI Inspire forum stating it has a 700w supply when it only has a pidly 500w supply!

That only gives you 100w MAX, (the same as the cheap underachieving $60 dji supply that comes FREE!

Flipping Liars on the internet trying to sell their stuff with their friends.
$400 dollars for 100w charge is a ripoff! Lie, lie, lie, lie.
This charger takes as long, or LONGER than the cheap $60 charger from DJI
(no where near as fast as the new DJI 180w charger for only $90)

How much for the box alone, no power supply?

Hey Carlsberg,
im am from the DJI Forum can you send me a link to where someone there has claimed it to be a 700 watt supply I must have missed that one.
Thanks

I have one and found with the I1 battery adapters it can actually charge 6 batteries at once.

@rtb, it is mentioned in your review that an inverter can be used, but a pure sine wave one. I have a modified sine wave 1500w one. Can this be used safely with this charger or does it have to be pure sine wave?

You can get away with MSW but your charger will run hotter.

I think your referring to a eBay product called a Charging Bar, these are very unsafe method of charging batteries these have also been reported in the DJI forums to have shorted out batteries and cause total failure due to poor production shorts on circuit board. I would not recommend the charger bars sold on eBay.
The Smart Charger is the Mother of all Chargers, Richie has a awesome product dating back to the P1& P2 & P2+ Chargers when he took his design to the Inspire 1 I was thrilled to know I can have a Charger that will Deep Cycle Batteries on the Fly and will discharge your Battery from 30% charge down to 5% and recharge the Battery, all within DJI Specs. Also can be updated via Firmware coming soon with a console so you will be able to tweak your unit. I have no affiliation with this company other then using the early model chargers that were sold and now the inspire 1 charger. I also been communication with Richie maybe some day soon we will be able to have a Storage cycle where it will only charge your Battery to 50% for storage. we will have to see what he can do with his future firmware releases.

FYI The link he quoted was the charger we are discussing, not the charging bar.
