USA Title 14 CFR Part 107 Waivers (Post your approved/rejected)

I would have to see the entire application. I have a night waiver pending on behalf of the police department I serve with as chief pilot (volunteer) and just received a request for more info. I already have a night waiver for my business (after 2 tries) so not my first rodeo. IMHO the feds just like to play difficult and being **** is just a sport. I can take a look at your app and make suggestions if you send it to me directly at [email protected]
Can reply in a couple of days.

I just received my Daytime Waiver (right to fly at night) -- thank you @licensed pilot and others on this forum for your posts/answers to questions. Without this additional guidance my waiver request would not have been successful.

@licensed pilot I e-mailed you a copy of my recent application (2nd time around), I really felt it was solid but they are requesting some more info. If you have a chance to take a look and point me in the right direction I would appreciate it!!

Thank you for everything you do here in the forums!

Well... I got rejected for a second time. At least this time they asked for specific additional info before rejecting.
I think I need to simplify my proposed operation, safety controls, etc. maybe even put in a simple diagram or something [emoji26][emoji26]
@licensed pilot I really appreciate your help. I think I may have just gotten the wrong person to review my Daytime Waiver

I can't figure out what the hell is going on. I have two approved daytime waivers; given the exact same language to other applicants and they get rejected. It's like some type of sick FAA game....Guess what I'm thinking?

I've heard anecdotally from others that they seem to be more restrictive with respect to non-airspace waivers (such as 107.29 daylight ops) now. Mine issued about this time last year. There's a lively discussion about this in one of my professional facebook groups right now. It's probably worth a few hundred bucks to get a good aviation attorney like Jonhathan Rupprecht to help you. My application was relatively simple but it DID have a lot of CFR-self-referential prophylaxis built-in.

Email me and perhaps we can compare notes.

"CFR-self-referential prophylaxis built-in." Nicely stated. Glad I got mine last year. Seems like it has become a sport for the FAA contractors..."guess how many I rejected today?"

HA. Yeah, I'm starting to get cheeky with those guys now. I asked for a blanket Class Bravo COA for NYC, linked to my 107.29 about a month ago. I Wonder What Their Response will be... hmmm. At least they were skippy with giving me a tracking number. I also have a waiver app in for the IFR approach to KSFO, LOL. Like picking up ladies in the bar, I'm pretty sure I'll be closing the place down with beer goggles.

Perhaps you got the one angry pudnucker in the office or at home (I understand most of these "reviewers" are contract employees, probably retired FAA), just your luck. I can only hope that 4 years hence this will be easier.

So, as a public service:

When it comes to government-related applications (not just the FAA), it's a wise idea to turn their own language around on them. Oh, you need "14 CFR 107.299 (b): Pilot must have available a Purple Pony With Sprinkles"?

IIV. Justification that Pilot has a Purple Pony With Sprinkles.

Pilot has secured several Purple Ponies with Sprinkles (hereinafter, PPWS). Responsible party has included the care, feeding, and maintenance of PPWS in the Company Flight Operations Manual (hereinafter, CFOM) and Company Training Manual (hereinafter, CTM). All rPICs operating under this waiver as issued shall receive CTM of which identity and traning schedule records will be kept, and, all of whom shall be (repeatedly, mind-numbingly) briefed on the CFOM prior to flight operations. Personal introduction to the aforesaid PPWS is optional, but recommended according to our CFOM. Our PPWS will be available for inspection at the request of the Administrator or other designated party.

See how that works? That's get you around the Purple Ponies Part of Part 107.299(b).

By the way, I wrote a whole elaborate article on this mess that you folks might find informative/helpful. It's specific to airspace Autorizations and Waivers, but a lot of the same rigamarole applies to other 107 waivers: Part 107 Waivers and Authorizations — a Primer

Thanks for sharing. That FAA utility map will be very helpful for my airspace authorizations (or dare I try for a waiver [emoji12])

Maybe they run the apps through their database to detect plagiarism?

Plagiarism??? That is not a factor, it is not an academic paper and the FAA is not a university. :D If this was a problem they would have rejected hundreds of 333 applications, as we were all copying and pasting like crazy.
You never know....have a great weekend! I actually get to fly next week manually...a rare treat.

Just got our Night waiver for our Department, took about a month, one follow up request. Now on to a Class D and then a Class C!
