    Repairs & Parts

Was wondering if anyone had done any repairs on their own, and/or if parts are available anywhere. My issue is that I have an I2 with a bad motor that needs to be replaced. It still flies (badly), but the motor makes grinding noises and wobbles a bit, clearly not what you want to fly with. I...

    Are Olympus Lenses Fully Functional?

There is a caveat to all this. I have the Oly 45 and it does NOT work on my X5S. I am told this is because the firmware in the lens is not the correct version. Alas, there is no way for me to update the firmware, so I may as well toss the lens in the trash.

    Strong RF Interference warning

I guess I should have followed up on this post. Quite some time ago now, I joined the dark side and "hacked" my I2 to use older firmware. I've rolled everything way back, the aircraft, the RC controller, and the Go app. Furthermore, I bought a $40 throwaway Android phone at Walmart, removed the...

    Battery cell error

Bug or feature? Sure would be a nice way to sell lots of those expensive batteries. But I don't believe DJI is competent enough to do something like that. They're lucky enough to be able to make their toys fly in the first place.

Using the SanDisk 16GB U3 on both birds (X5S and X7) so I don't think that is my issue, especially for stills.

Any new owners of the x7 can share their thoughts so far

You've probably already seen what I have to say, but I'm considered the party pooper of the crowd since I don't shill for DJI. I wasted $4K on the X7/35, and yes, it was a complete and total waste of money. That's what you get for being an early adopter. Lesson learned. Today my X7 sits idly in...

    Miscellaneous Reliability Issues

Well that's certainly interesting. You're the only one beside myself to have this problem, or at least, the only other one to actually report it publicly. I have 2 Inspire 2s and only one of them does this. It may very well be bad hardware for all I know. Oddly, it seems to mean nothing. I've...

    Newest firmware is horrible :(

I agree mav. The Inspire 2 is a great machine physically and for a m43 format, the X5S is no slouch either. When things actually work (which is very rarely, I hate to say), this is far and away the best platform I have ever used. Sadly, the software (aircraft firmware, Go app) is just complete...

    Battery cell error

I seem to recall that somewhere, someone took a battery with this problem, cut it open, attached it to a real charger (like you use with off-the-shelf HV lipos), balanced all the cells, glued everything back together, and ended up with a "fixed" pack. Too much work for me, but just barely at...

    Battery cell error

My anecdotal evidence is that about 15% are bad. I say this because I have 6 sets (12 batteries) and of those 12, 2 have "failed". But I personally think this is just yet another of DJI's software blunders, in that the "intelligent" batteries are actually very dumb, as is the "intelligent"...

If you want as fair a comparison as I can make, have a look at these raws: bnsf_3997_intermodal_20171122_ottawa_ks.dng bnsf_7173_intermodal_20171128_ottawa_ks.dng The shots aren't great, but the position and composition and settings are pretty close between the X5S and X7.

    Newest firmware is horrible :(

Well, things finally got SO bad for me that I had to resort to hacking, which I know it not permissible to discuss here. But the thing is, the latest (prior to this week) firmware and Go app rendered the I2 totally unusable as a workable platform for me to do absolutely constant and nonstop...

    SAMPLE images and videos

Glad I could help. Yes, I'm terribly disappointed (to the tune of $4K). And here's the salt DJI rubbed into this wound. Not only is the X7 of no use to me because it is way too soft, the whole system is no so unstable as to be totally useless for shooting stills of moving objects. The latest...

    Newest firmware is horrible :(

Thanks, Patrick. I'll give that a try. I spent all day Saturday with my I2/X7 and all day Sunday with my I2/X5S. Saturday was a nightmare due to broken-up video downlinks. With my subject (moving trains), timing is critical (and the X7 has a metric ton of lag too), so video breakup in the...

    Newest firmware is horrible :(

I hear you guys and sympathize. Now if only someone at DJI would pay attention to their customers. I honestly don't see how anyone can make money on this platform. It is simply too unreliable. I finally got my first I2 back from DJI repair (after they had to fix it twice), and I've been trying...
