Follow me algorithm

Gents,
Been reading multiple threads on the follow me feature. I have some theories on the radical performance. Can some one tell me exactly how the follow me feature is mechanized?
How and where the I1 receives its commands from?
How it updates position?
What are the update rates and from what source?
Is there a Kalman filter in the loop for the flight control system?
Basically can someone explain the operations of the system?

I would suggest you sign up for the SDK which may answer many of your questions.

As for actual algorithms and their execution - DJI will guard their IP like fort Knox so do not expect any collaboration/help there.
