HDMI monitor for a larger viewing platform

Hey guys,
I have an extra 19" LED monitor laying around and thought it would be helpful if I used it while flying (mount it to a tripod). I have the mini HDMI cable that is needed and just quickly experimenting at home I found that I had feed and movement to the 19" monitor I didn't get any movement to my android device. Also the feed to the android device was black and white?

Can anyone that uses an additional monitor give me some ideas on how to do this? I believe that I'm close I just need that last bit of knowledge regarding this.

theres a setting in the app to use both the hdmi and usb port feeds at the same time you probably need to turn on under the video signal menu
