Mounting Inspire 2 on a tripod plate

I recently saw a video where a high-end professional film company had the I2 bottom plate mounted directly to the quick release plate of a tripod. This has obvious advantages of using the I2 and X5S gimbal on a tripod or as a hothead on a jib, etc. I have seen DIY cradle adapters for the I2, etc., but never a direct mount. Has anyone ever done this? What is the recommended procedure? Thanks.

I made this which allows direct tripod mounting. 2mm carbon fibre provides a solid base. No need to remove for flight if you don’t want.

@ Jmaxwell, are you making these to sell? It appears that the three riser bolts for the tripod bolt are only connected to the fiber plate. Is that correct?

I made it for myself and this was v1 but might well sell them when I’m 100% happy with the design if people are interested. The risers are held with countersunk m4 bolts (the smaller plate will be a touch larger as it needs a little more material around the bolts for added strength.

How is the large plate attached to the I2 and is the knurled nut fully captive?

The large plate is bolted to the inspire. The existing bolts are replaced with slightly longer ones to allow for the extra depth. (See attached image).

The tripod screw is fully captive.
