Question on installing and removing gimbal/camera

Does anyone know if it's okay to install and remove the gimbal/camera while the aircraft is still powered on?

Or do we really need to power it on, exit travel mode, turn it off, install the gimbal, power it back on, fly, power it off, remove the gimbal, power it back on, enter travel mode, and then power it back off again?

I was told that you can damage the camera. Please power down the Inspire before removing or installing the camera.
