'remote control problems

i recently purchased an inspire 1 drone to replace one i crashed. the new drone is great. came with two remote controls batteries, the works. The problem is neither of the remotes communicate with the drone or my phone. i have tried iphone, ipad, and android with no luck. both remotes turn on and charge fine.

what can i do to make them communicate?

I hate to ask the obvious, but have you tried binding either remote to the Inspire 1? Barring that, if you purchased the unit used from a questionable source, are you sure they are Inspire 1 remotes? You could always bind your old remote.
