New Firmware v1.3.0.00 Aug 4 2015

2015.8.4

Overview:1. All-in-One Firmware version updated to: v1.3.0

What’s New:

  1. Added option to downgrade the aircraft firmware.

  2. Added HD Video Conversion option in the video editor.

  3. Added High Dynamic Range (HDR) shooting feature.

  4. Enabled use of remote controller to shoot photos in burst mode.

  5. Fixed issue of video files being damaged when aircraft is powered off during recording.

  6. Added DJI SDK API support for Inspire 1.

  7. Optimized transportation mode. Now allows entering transportation mode even when the gimbal is
still attached to the aircraft. Transportation mode is automatically triggered when the gimbal is detached from the aircraft. Additionally, users can now immediately attach the gimbal after powering on the aircraft and exiting transportation mode.

  8. Added option to enable or disable the Vision Position System.

  9. Added option in Failsafe mode to land the aircraft at the current location and altitude.

  10. Added option to enable or disable Low Battery RTH feature.

  11. Flightcontrollerparametersarenowretainedafterfirmwareupdates.

  12. Support storing customized gimbal parameters.

  13. Camera View now displays the DJI logo if a video output error is detected to avoid confusion with a blank

    screen.

  14. Motors stop spinning automatically if blocked by obstacles or excessive force.

  15. Support updating remote controller firmware though the DJI GO app.

  16. Optimized battery life algorithm.

  17. The battery will conserve extra power if it has not been calibrated for the first time.

  18. Optimized battery protection mechanism.
Bug Fixes:

  1. Fixed the issue of DJI GO app displays “Flight Controller Data Error” when the capacity of flight controller is full.

  2. Improved the stability of the flight controller.

  3. Improved the stability of the Vision Position System.

  4. Fixed the issue of failing to reset GPS coordinate on the mobile device.
Notice:

  1. The battery must be fully charged and then discharged to below 5% power to complete the calibration. Manually toggle the Flight Mode Switch to enter the IOC.

  2. Upgrading the remote controller firmware though USB flash drive is no longer supported after this update. Users should only update their remote controller by using the DJI GO app.

  3. Motors may beep and LEDs may flash during the update. This is normal as the motors will be updated following this update.

  4. The battery’s charge and discharge cycles may be affected by the update as a result of the new calculation method for the battery life.

  5. Even after the Vision Position System is disabled, the landing gear will still automatically lower in order to protect the gimbal when flying at low altitudes. If such action is not desired, turn off the Intelligent Landing Gear feature in the DJI GO app.

  6. Gimbal will produce beeping sound to indicate the parameters saved successfully.

  7. Aircraft firmware can only be downgraded to v1.2.106 or later.
Definitely some nice enhancements in this revision of the firmware. It looks like they are listening to some of ournsuggestions.
Question-Do you need to update each battery individually with the new firmware update?

I've had no issues flying or power wise but since the update I've been getting the odd gimbal calibration error and my mp4 files are sometimes corrupt upon playback which is frustrating when trying to work! Any ideas how I could save some mp4's that start to play then freeze and shut down? Not sure if this is directly linked to the update but it's only happened since. :(

Well, i've managed to upgrade to 1.3.0.00, but can't update controllers, tried using DJI Go app and get the following message " The RC doesn't support upgrading firmware through App, please upgrade the firmware with USB Disk " and that doesn't work either even though I've used the same Micro SD card before , tried on both master and slave, master has 50% charge, Slave has 90% charge and neither works. Things just get better don't they, any ideas??

I would like to take a moment and thank all you folks who are posting their Firmware experiences and thoughts. Much appreciated it has been a great help!

Just a note, while bleeding of power by running the props an interesting thing happened. The ground effects moved a rag off a near by shelf that landed in one of my props. The prop stopped, the rag dropped out of the way and the prop spun back up in very quick order. Nice feature, can see it saving many rags, props and motors.

Hi Cheeky, the firmware update through the app to the RC will not be relevant until the next FW release.
"Upgrading the remote controller firmware though USB flash drive is no longer supported after this update"

I updated with my microsd in a usbthumb reader and plugged it in the RC. I would reformat your SD or Thumbdrive and go at it with a fresh bin file in the root in the usb and keep your fingers crossed. Seems odd that it would not work on both RC. I would charge up the master more as well.

For what its worth, I hope that helps.

Are there any complications noticed so far with upgrading the firmware while using the pilot app on an android tablet? I've been in the fence on whether to upgrade the firmware since I don't have a compatible IOS device.

Yes, thank you. The app indicated that to me. The RC update was successful and only took about a minute and a half...
Did you use the same bin file you used to update the AC? I finally got my AC to update, but the RC is being stubborn. I'm using the same SD card that I used for the AC update, with only the bin file on it. I've tried to update the RC via a thumb reader and the usb port, and by inserting the sd card into the camera and connecting the camera to the RC. No luck either way, would love any sugestions.

Any successful ^untold^ story, about Android based pilots, upgrading to new 1.3.0.00 &go app, so... AC, RC, and Batt smooth upgrade, and a happyy ending report?
I'm still grounded due to heatcore/lag/crash app, on Android based Note pro 12.2 samsung device, reluctant to change to ipad air 2....
I can't wait for an Android based app &upgrade...
Any successful story for Android guys?
flying two Shields, update with no problem, functions well, more stable, speed unchanged, no longer drops video and range is double what it use to be.

Im flying 2 shields also, app crashed once since update, shield was on max power though, flying tommorow, hope no incidents then...

Have noticed after the latest update that my iPad Air does not connect to the video until after I start the motors. ie - it shows "no signal" until I start the motors then the video connects. Everything else on the iPad is displaying correctly.
I have removed the camera and checked the pins and tried another usb cable. Any advice would be appeciated.

Thanks Shnooks ,i'll give that a try

Hi everyone.

Just had an absolutely seamless experience updating the AC/camera/gimbal/ESCs, 5 batteries, and two RCs. B-E-A-UTIFUL!

I would like to thank DJI for their work.

I just need to power cycle my batteries to 'reset' them.
And, on that note - I LOVE the battery hub for juicing them up :)
A future model or update that could also do an active discharge (ew), that would be great! *I'm winking at you DJI*
(Yes, I know they discharge on their own after 10 days, but I want a discharge NOW function that doesn't involve flying / hovering / leaving the rotors spinning / powered up, stationary AC).

Anyway, I have noticed another nice, new (Hopefully this wasn't there before or it will be embarrassing) feature for when the RC and AC lose contact that I would like to point your attention to.

In the MC Settings > Advanced Settings > RC Signal Lost
You have three options
- Return-to-Home
- Landing
- Hover

I was really hesitant to fly amongst trees because losing the signal would typically put you in FS, and climb... straight into trees.

With 'hover' or 'land' options now on the table - that certainly relieves some stress, as it will sit there waiting for you (GPS hunting taken into consideration, and assuming you're low enough for VPS), or land. Still, better than the alternative.

Of course, if you're going to fly it long distances (which I don't have a requirement for), then setting it to RTH would be best :)

I would suggest making this part of your pre-flight check.

I like the look of this update - but am yet to fly it.

For your interest/curiosity - I have attached some notes / observations of my update experience.
Disclaimer: They are not intended to be instructions - follow at your own discretion.

Ryan

*EDIT* Took some snarkiness out of my post to avoid/reduce confusion.

Anyone notice additional twitchiness? I noticed it yesterday in small gusts of wind.

Wondering if I need to mess with the advanced gains for the first time on this craft.

Already tuned down ATTI and Brake, and sticks are .30 or .40

For those of you struggling to upgrade firmware on Controllers, I tried upgrading using Micro SD card via USB micro convertor and it didn't work however I tried, just tried using standalone usb stick rather than above and its worked on both.

Thanks Schnooks for advice

And the hits keep on coming.

'Enter travel mode' puts it into 'flight mode'.
Landing gear FULLY UP - not half way.

*breathe*

EDIT: Nevermind. It's because it wasn't on a hard surface. I was holding it up off the floor just in case it did something else silly after the update. Video still a problem.

Did you by chance update the RC before the AC?

If so, you can relink via the app and red button in the fuselage.
