Slave Controller Loss Of Video - Master Still Clear

I had samekind problems, problem was super old rc firmware. When i got my second remote i made update via iPhone, but it went wrong. Today i tried to apply new firmware update to bird and everything went ok, but slave rc (wich didn't come in the package (it was purchased difrently)) said i't cannot upgrade. So i downloaded that 1.3 firmware on DJI website and updated slave rc via usb stick. After that it taked new firmware over iPhone.
Also we made test flight, nearly 650m/2100feet distance and everything was perfect. No lagging and no signal loss. Master had iPhone 6s plus and slave had iPad mini 3.

so, a FW update should solve the problem?
i ordered the 4.9-5.8ghz omni directional antenna i found and will see if relocating will solve my issue in conjunction of upgrading which i would not really like to do as if what is being said is true that new FW does result in performance loss by not going so fast as first advertised 22m/s.
I am half way through converting my controllers to itelite DBS and preserving and separating the 5.8 antenna. I'm hoping this will clean it up a bit. I'll share results soon.
No confirmation yet from anyone who has separated the antennas yet as to if it has fixed the problem
i did order 3 from l-com but they messed up the invoice and sent me a 25000 USD bill LOL
already corrected and ordered... waiting for them to arrive and will check and mod as soon as i get them.

i am on my phone but a few posts back (maybe a page or two) i did put in a link asking if that was an ok to order pcb antenna.
i will not be able to look it up for you from my phone (fiddling is to much) lol
its l-com 4.9-5.8 ghz i think.

The DBS mod patch is not that exciting. It's too directional to my liking and doesn't seem to alleviate the bad reception on the 2nd controller all that much. As a single operator, it's pretty good but I would be careful with it in congested areas. It's just like having a Wi-Fi setup that is too powerful and gets bogged down by congestion from way beyond your needed coverage area.
One of my issues is the bags of meat standing around me absorbing signal. And their phones. And the equipment on C stands. I think a pair of medium gain omnis atop a 15ft C stand would work best. No pointing. Better fresnel. Just wondering if I need amps to handle the attenuation over a 20ft length of cable. Suggestions?

i managed to order and actually pay via wire transfer to the florida based l-com company since they are not allowed to accept my credit card from hungary... restriction.... (rolleyes)
as soon as i have them i will relocate the 5ghz part within the rc and report back. the mod that has been done was reported to work as the separation is the key issue.

try to separate the two antennassithin the rc as shown in the video. my understanding of that video was to do that but i do not want to cut and alter my rc so heaviely... that is why i opted for the separate pcb.
may i ask where you are working at (i figured on set) but i am interested if for tv commercials or movie production
and what setup do you use on the I1? x5r or x3?
would love to know more if you do not mind

funny as the first PI was an error invoice over 2500usd instead of 35.85 lol. they corrected it and appologized but its still funny. also after running into the "you can't pay with CC" because your are in hungary and that is a restricted country policy was another bummer... but wire transfer is on the way and DHL is cool and hopefully some time next week i will have what i need and make my tests
with the spirit of chjab (i think ist spelled) damon and many others i hope i can contribute to our search for information and work around to make our equipment be better

Antennas are already separated. The 2.4 antennas are rewired to the DBS patch and the 5.8 antenna is mounted near the original location.
This is all for on set shooting which is usually pretty short range. It changes from time to time though. Past two days I shot at a racetrack for MotorTrend. Little interference and only about 3/4 mile range. Was fine as single op. As dual op, signal break up.
All X5, GH4 or A7Sii. No X5R for me.

It's not the 5.8 that has the problem. It's the 2.4. Remember 5.8 is only for the secondary controller to send commands to the primary controller.
I will try to separate them as good as I can and see what my results are as I have the same problem. at about 600m away my cam op starts to swear and moan around that why this **** won´t work and he can´t compose the pic anymore... 
so I am having the same issue. I was thinking of a DBS mod but in Hungary it is not so easy to get one. people here are still stigmatized from socialism and do not really share anything. there is one user here in the forum I got in contact with he is actually around the corner from where my company is based and upon me asking for a get together, you guessing right.... no answer. now either he has so much work that he is not on the forum anymore so much or I am not sympathetic enough to be met

Hey Phatzo did you ever get that antenna and try it out? Im still struggling here with this issue.me too... me too...
