Gyrocopters have been around for a long time and require no licensing IIRC as long as the weight is small. I have to wonder why they haven't been used more in past years for photography

over 250lbs if it flys it needs to be certified by FAA and in turn you must be certified to fly it. This is what I remember from when I did research for my pilots license so I could be wrong..

I saw one of these little buggers land in a small park near University of Pittsburgh about 15 years ago. When the news camera tried to interview the pilot and tell him that it was illegal to land there --- he gave them a few "choice" words and calmly flew up and away. Cops just stood there with really stupid looks on their faces.

Made me chuckle that this is one time the bad guy was a cool mofo who got away with it.
