Controller version A B or C

Some people are saying that the "A" version controller has an "on board" video control processor that the later versions do not. Anyone heard of anything like this before? I'm shopping around for my second controller and want the best model

From what I've heard, the A version has smoother video preview and puts less stress on your phone or tablet processor while the C version stresses the processor but gets slightly better range.
